Robert Peterson- Varsity
Coach Peterson is in his fourth year teaching and coaching at Cairo High School. Before coming to Cairo, he coached at Jackson County HS, Clarke Central HS, Centennial HS, and Lithia Spring HS.
Coach Peterson played at Parkview High School all four years. He then went on to play two years of college soccer. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He also holds a Masters degree in Secondary Education and Educational Specialist degree in Brain-Based Learning. He currently teaches Environmental Science.
Coach Peterson currently holds a NSCAA Goal Keeping 3 and a US Soccer National "C" license. He has been coaching youth and High School soccer for over 10 years.
Coach Peterson married his wife, Jennifer, in April 2006. They have three children: Kinley, Kyley, and Brantley.
Will Phillips- JV/Varsity Assistant
Will Phillips
Coach Phillips enters his second season with the Syrupmakers as the Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity. He Graduated from Colquitt County High School in 2005. After leaving high school he played collegiately at both Thomas University and Georgia Southwestern State University. Coach Phillips graduated from Georgia Southwestern with a history degree in 2010.
Brett Phillips- Middle School
Coach Phillips is in his sixth year coaching the middle school boys team in Cairo. He holds various coaching diplomas including the USSF “E” license, NSCAA Junior Level VI, and the NSCAA Goalkeeping Level II. He currently serves as the Program Director for Associated Soccer Group Georgia (ASG GA), a professionally administered club soccer organization, and head coach of the ASG GA U17 girls which ranks as one of the top select soccer teams in Georgia.
Coach Phillips played select soccer for a competitive club in Metro-Atlanta from age 12 to 16. He played for Heritage High School (Conyers, GA) for 2 seasons as an outside back before giving up soccer to focus on football and track. He received a scholarship to the University of West Georgia to play wide receiver.
Coach Phillips married his wife, Susan, in July 1996. They have three children: Cole, Claire, and Emalee Ryan.
